Mochakottai kootu

 

Ingredients

    Fresh Mochakottai [Lima Beans] – 1 cup
    Curry leaves – 1 spring
    Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
    Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp
    Asafetida a pinch
    Oil – 2 tbsp
    Salt to taste
    Water as needed.

For roasting and grinding

    Bengal gram – 1 tbsp
    Urad dal - ½ tbsp
    Coriander seeds -1 tbsp
    Cumin Seeds – 1 tbsp
    Dry red chilli - 1
    Coconut – ¼ cup [grated]
    Heat oil in a pan, roast all ingredients & grind to fine paste with ¼ cup of water

Method

    Boil mochakottai till soft.
    Heat oil in a pan then add mustard seeds. Once it’s spluttered add curry leaves & asafetida.
    Add mochakottai, turmeric powder & salt mix well & sauté.
    Add ground paste & water mix well & let it boil. When boiling cut off heat serve hot with ven pongal, paal pongal
