Palakkai Masala

 

Ingredients

    Raw Jackfruit [Palaakkai Pinju, Baby Jackfruit] - ½
    Shallots – 5
    Garlic – 1 clove
    Dry red chilli – 1
    Curry leaves – 1 spring
    Coriander leaves – 2 spring [chopped]
    Lemon juice – 1 tbsp
    Red chilli powder – ¼ tbsp
    Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp
    Bengal gram – ½ tbsp
    Urad dal – ½ tbsp
    Oil – 2 tbsp
    Salt to taste
    Water as needed

Roasting and grinding ingredients

    Shallots [sambar onion] – 10
    Garlic – 4
    Ginger – 1 inch
    Coconut – 2 tbsp [grated]
    Curry leaves – 1 spring
    Dry red chilli – 1
    Cinnamon – ½ inch stick
    Fennel seeds – 1 tbsp
    Cumin seeds – 1 tbsp
    Coriander seeds – 1 tbsp
    Heat oil in a pan then add ingredients roast then cool it and coarsely grind.

Method

    Peel the skin of jack fruit and wash, cut into cubes then put in a turmeric added water.
    Heat oil in a pan then add mustard seeds. Once it’s spluttered then add Bengal gram, urad dal and onion sauté till soft.
    Then add garlic and dry red chilli sauté gently.
    Add curry leaves add jack fruit and red chilli powder mix well then add water cook till soft.
    Then add ground paste and salt mix well & cook till raw smell out.
    Cut off heat then add lemon juice and coriander leaves mix well & serve hot with rice.
